http://findandform.com/

Find and Form is a design firm focused on clean and crisp craft. With this said the website for their company says very little. It uses a crisp and clean sans serif font that reflects their focus on minimalism and utility.

Rob Edwards is a designer. His website’s focus is to excite the viewer and create a sense of the designer’s abilities, should you decide to hire him. A wordy website might say little about the designer’s practices, so Rob has cleverly added the bulk in the form of a few quick words. The bulk is sculpted into an old school circus poster and presents a knowledge of typography in general. The rest of the website is very nicely and cleanly wrapped with some innovative programming. Who wouldn’t want to hire him?

What can I say about Marie Guillaumet? She is a hands on designer with an illustrative and organic approach to design. She also has a website that says all of that in a single glance. The font used is meant to look hand written and it matches the illustrations and graphical elements.

http://www.losttype.com/browse/

Lost Type is a co-op for font developers. Each font is advertised in its own grid using a unique example of the context it might be suited for. I like this site because it gives typography a more glorious market front. Instead of some crummy free fonts site this presents quality in hopes for appreciation. It is simple and well thought out.

Sean Baker is a designer. He does layout and graphics for things in the real world. His website acts as a message board and portfolio to keep his public image fresh. His use of typography is aimed at creating a look and feel that says “Hey I’m a designer and I can work towards your individual tastes.” With that in mind his heading is very diverse but the body type is very clean and uniform. He uses a sans serif typeface so that you aren’t pulled into an impression of what he might give you as a design if you hired him. I think its a very cool way to showcase current work and advertise to prospective employers.

I just love this site. It is strictly a slide show with no scroll bar to showcase the typography art that this company has created. The art is very experimental and playful, yet bold and stunning. It’s purely typography as an art and its cool.

http://www.makingfiends.com/

making fiends is a delightfully frightful little girls playground of evil fiends and fluffy friends. Made for the popular youtube sensation Making fiends animations, this site plays along with the whimsical nature of the cartoon. With sounds playing and creatures moving as rollovers it is almost like poking and prodding into an imaginary world.

http://www.zoochosis.com/index.html

Zoochosis is a comedy group that makes hilariously inappropriate yet philosophical and thoughtful shorts. Their site strikes me because it is visually beautiful and well organized. It makes all the media you came to see, ready to watch.

http://served-mcr.com/

Served is a charity ping pong competition in Manchester England… Soooo why do they have to have such a freakin cool site?! Exactly! Why not?! It’s got balls flyin around and gorillas with head bands and crazy spirals zig zaggies and oh gosh it’s just so fun!!!

http://www.thesocietyinc.com.au/about-us/

The society inc is a haberdashery is oddities much like an antique store, but less lame. Their site is very beautiful and has intriguing photography to real the viewer in. I like it because it is good material for good design in that it really paints a picture of who these guys are and what they communicate as a company.
